General

Who are Testuff?

We are a small company with 5 employees. We're operating from Tel Aviv, Israel and have been at it for the past two years. We come from various fields of software engenering and testing and have quite a lot of experience in both fields.

What is your vision?

We build our product for ace QA Engineers working in small companies. I'm talking about people who put blood and sweat into their work, who view QA not only as an important yet highly underrated profession in the IT business, but also as an art.

We want Testuff to easily allow you accomplishing the most mundane of tasks quickly and comfortably with zero bureaucracy. More importantly, we want Testuff to give space for creativity in testing, to encourage you stepping outside the step where the really juicy bugs lie for the taking. And as you're doing all of this, we'd also like testing with Testuff to be really fun! :)

How much will it cost?

Testuff is free during beta trials. It will always remain free and fully functional for a single user and will cost around $300 per year for a company of up to 5 testers.

What is your privacy policy?

Please read it here. Your privacy and security is very important to us, so do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any further questions about it.

Can I install the Testuff server locally?

We do not currently offer Testuff for local installations.

You can still connect Testuff to your local bug tracking server as the connection is done via the desktop client and not via our server.

We understand your reluctance to store tests and defect reports on our servers. However, your data will be at least as secure on our servers as on yours, unless your local network is physically disconnected from the internet. All the communication between the client and the server is encrypted, and so is the data on the servers themselves. The servers run on Debian Linux with security patches applied regularly and reside in a secure facility behind a constantly monitored firewall.

What happens to my data if I want to quit?

If you want to stop using the service, please contact us and we will export the data for you in HTML, XML or CSV.

Which platforms are supported?

The Testuff client has been tested on Windows. We plan to support Linux and Mac in the near future, so let us know if you're interested.

Test Management

Can I import my tests from Excel/Word/HTML/XML into Testuff?

Yes. Please send us your Excel/Word/HTML/XML files and we will do this for you for free.

Can I export tests to Excel or HTML?

Sure. In the Testuff home screen, click the Get your backup link at the bottom right to export your whole DB to Excel.

To export tests or suites to HTML, right click them and choose Print.

Does Testuff have requirements management?

Requirements management is coming soon...

Is it possible to give different rights to different users in Testuff?

At the moment user hierarchy is flat in Testuff to promote openness in your QA team. Nonetheless, we have received several requests for such a feature, so we will implement it for the production version of Testuff.

Can I manually change the order of tests and suites?

Add numbers to the begining of your suite or test names (01, 02, 03...). Soon enough there will be a designated feature to do this.

What about rich text editing and a spell checker for test editing?

Also working on this one. Yes, we have a lot of work on our hands :)

Does Testuff have an API to update test results via automation?

Not at the moment. However, we feel your pain. One of the partners at Testuff used to work in QA for a major corporation. Amongst many tasks, he had to manually update automatic test results in some other test management tool, and until this day it haunts him. He will not allow such suffering to take place much longer.

We could help you out even before we provide a proper API. Tell us about your automation, and we might be able to provide you a custom made tool or script to automatically update test results in Testuff.

Where is the recorded video stored?

When you open a defect that includes a recorded video, it is uploaded to our server. This way you could link to the video in the bug tracker or share it with your friends over email.

You'll also find it locally in the directory C:\Program Files\Testuff\attach (or the chosen Testuff installation path)

Tracker Integration

What kind of integration do you have with bug trackers?

Testuff integrates with bug trackers as a one way street - all we do is export bugs to the tracker. If the bug is modified in the tracker, Testuff does not know it. Find out more at the help section.

Can you integrate with my tracker?

Yep! If we already support it, see how to configure it at the help section. If not, let us know which tracker you use and we will do our best to integrate with it.

Is it possible to associate different Testuff projects and users to different bug tracker projects/products and users?

Yes. Please read about it at the Testuff help.

Any way to update bugs via Testuff?

Nope, please manage your bugs directly at your favorite tracker.

Can I send a defect back to a tester for retesting?

You could easily setup a new test lab out of failed tests from a previous lab. Alternatively, assign the relevent tests to the tester and she will see them in her tasks view.

We have some cool ideas how to allow retesting more easily than that without having to synchronize with the trackers, so stay tuned for surprises!
